Plymouth breakwater Dive report.

Posted on Tuesday May 12 0:00:00 UTC 2009
The Exe Spearfishing club finally managed  to pull off a club dive at Plymouth breakwater on 17th May. After 2 cancellations due to bad weather it was 3rd time lucky, Many thanks to David O 'callaghan organising the day. Also a thanks to Andy Broad traveling up from Cornwall with his boat, without his boat we would of struggled to get divers out to the breakwater. Although we got everyone out some boats where over loaded, Bills boat slowly dragged Juniors Matt H , Joe J, and the captain him self billy ( Jack sparrow ) out to the breakwater.

Visibility was over 30ft during high tide, but as the tide dropped so did the visibility. Carl S did especially well pulling out 3 Good sized Pollock and a mullet while suffering from blocked sinuses
David O 'Callaghan |( club chairman ) caught 3 Pollock, also junior Joe who is used to fishing low viz conditions managed to pull out 2 pollock. Matt Hill, filled his stringer with pollock. And was also suffering with blocked sinuses which resulted in a bleeding nose through out the day.
We also had a Local freediver Bryony join us, Plymouth Spearfisher Ray and Torbay spearfisher Scott Wilson who took pictures though out the day so a thanks to scott.

Towards the end of the day boat traffic increased and Bill took charge of watching over the divers from his Rib, This is why we should always dive with a SBM. After over 4 hours of diving every one called it a day and made the cold ride back to the slipway where stories of the day where exchanged.
The Exe Club is planning to hold a shore dive within the next few weeks so check site for updates.
